High School at Tamarack Waldorf:
Experiential. Academic. Creative. Relevant.
Since opening its doors in 1996, Tamarack Waldorf School has provided the children of Milwaukee with a high-quality, well-balanced education emphasizing science, humanities and the arts. Tamarack is one of the most diverse Waldorf schools in the United States. Now, after years of work and a great deal of planning, we celebrate the opening of the Tamarack Waldorf High School. Our first 9th graders began their journey in autumn 2014 and will be joined by a new class each year, until we serve grades nine through twelve in the 2017-2018 school year.
The entirety of the Waldorf curriculum allows students to experience purpose and direction in their lives. The high school curriculum especially encourages growth in each adolescent’s individual critical thinking skills, and a cultivated sense of self.
The vigorously academic curriculum of the Waldorf High School features four years of biology, earth science, physics, chemistry, mathematics and humanities, taught in month-long blocks, alongside weekly classes in math skills, English, social studies, world language and movement. The performing, visual and manual arts, real-world learning and community service, and days-long trips are integral aspects of the curriculum. Students are prepared to meet tomorrow’s world through engagement in the widest variety of activities and challenges.
Waldorf High School students experience themselves meaningfully contributing to the world and in doing so understand the goodness of the world and the depth of possibility of their place in it.
