Finance Manager

The person hired for this full-time position plays a key role in ensuring that Tamarack Waldorf School uses its financial resources in the most effective way possible to support the school’s mission of Waldorf education for pre-kindergarten through high school. Working with the administration, finance committee and faculty to develop and approve workable budgets, the manager continuously monitors income and expenditures. Keeping operations as efficient and transparent as possible, the manager will provide reports on a regular basis for the finance committee and staff. This position helps support long term growth and sustainability for the financial security of TWS’s future. Broad categories of responsibilities include:

  • Budget process
  • Income and expenses, including payroll and benefits
  • Financial records and prepare reports
  • Billing
  • Grant budgets
  • HR / benefits support

Compensation includes benefits with competitive health insurance coverage.

Required Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years’ experience in the field, preferably in the Non-Profit sector
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks (TWS has 2014 with Payroll) and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Must know accrual and cash based accounting concepts
  • Must be available all week days, most business hours; some evening meetings required
  • HR experience is a plus

Kindergarten Assistant

Tamarack Waldorf School is currently seeking a part-time (3 days a week) Kindergarten Assistant for the current school year. The qualified candidate must have a B.A. and must have experience with children ages 3-7. Lifeways or Waldorf Teacher Training is highly valued. Love and patience for the young child is a must.

Tamarack Waldorf School is a full member of AWSNA and participates in the Milwaukee Parental Choice (voucher) Program. Tamarack currently has a robust pre-K-9th grade enrollment of approximately 275 students and will add a Grade 10 class in September 2015. We are pleased to have started a high school this year and will add a new grade each subsequent year through Grade 12. A culturally, economically and racially diverse student body from throughout the Milwaukee region is guided through the full complement of Waldorf Education by Tamarack’s well-trained, innovative, highly professional and long-serving faculty and staff. Tamarack faculty and students enjoy the urban landscape of Milwaukee, and natural settings such as the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan, within walking distance of the school.

Grade One Teacher 2015-2016

Tamarack Waldorf School seeks a Grade One Lead Teacher to start a journey through the grades with our newest first grade class for the upcoming school year, 2015-16.  The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic Waldorf educator and collaborative colleague.  A bachelor’s degree is required.  A Waldorf Teaching certificate and successful teaching in a Waldorf school are highly valued.  Partial completion of Waldorf teacher training will be considered and a plan for completion must be agreed upon at the time of hire.  Tamarack offers competitive wages and benefits based on education and experience.

Tamarack Waldorf School is a private Waldorf school established in 1996 as an urban school embracing diversity in Milwaukee. We offer a complete curriculum for students from pre-school and kindergarten through ninth grade. Tamarack welcomes students and families of all races, religions and cultures.
